Why Harmony & Jay
The foundation is named after our founder's children, a reminder, built into everything we do, that every child deserves what her children have: safety, love, opportunity, and someone who believes in their future without condition
Our Story
-
The Harmony and Jay Foundation was born from a moment of quiet reckoning.
Our founder, a Tanzanian-Canadian born in Tanzania and raised between the UK and Canada, who later returned to the continent where her story began, and her husband, a professional in finance and investment, found themselves sitting in a well-equipped hospital after the birth of their children, surrounded by every resource new parents could want. And instead of feeling only gratitude, they found themselves asking the same question:
What about the children whose parents can't afford this? What about the children with no parents at all?
That question didn't leave them. It grew into action..
-
Starting in 2022, our founder and her family began quietly supporting New Faraja Orphanage Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, not as an organisation, but as a family showing up for children who needed someone in their corner.
What they found there confirmed everything that question had pointed toward: children of extraordinary resilience, in need of consistent care, healthcare, education, and the simple knowledge that the world beyond their door cares about them.
The Harmony and Jay Foundation was formally registered as a Canadian nonprofit in 2026, bringing structure and reach to work that had already been underway for years.
