-
New Faraja is a home for 120 children in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, providing safety, education, healthcare, nutrition, counselling, and loving care to children who need it most.
-
In 2016, founders Zamda Juma Kishumba and Mzamir Idrisa Juma opened their home to three children with no funding or formal structure, just a conviction that no child should feel alone. Word spread, more children came, and New Faraja grew from there.
-
New Faraja currently cares for 120 children, 67 girls and 53 boys, each arriving with their own story and their own potential.
-
Every child is enrolled in school, malnutrition has been eliminated, and a zero-incident safety record has been maintained since founding. For some children, the most meaningful outcome is a supported path back to their families.
-
Twelve dedicated staff members carry the work every day, supported by the centre's founders and growing partnerships with organizations like the Harmony and Jay Foundation.
-
The Harmony and Jay Foundation partners with New Faraja to support their work, amplify their story, and ensure every child has not just what they need to survive, but everything they need to thrive.
-
Building New Faraja a new home. With 120 children under one roof, the current facility has outgrown itself. Land has been purchased on the outskirts of Dar es Salaam and construction is ready to begin. Funding partners are now being sought to break ground.
-
