Roots & Wings

The Roots and Wings program is a safe, welcoming programme for newcomer youth in Windsor, Ontario. It provides structured spaces where young people can build friendships, connect with mentors, celebrate their cultural identity, and develop the confidence and life skills they need to thrive in Canada.

Roots and Wings is open to all immigrant and refugee youth aged 12 to 24 living in Windsor, Ontario, regardless of country of origin, language, religion, or background. If you are new to Canada and looking for your people, this is for you.

Participants can expect to build genuine friendships with peers who understand their experience, connect with mentors who have walked a similar path, explore and celebrate their cultural identity, and develop communication and life skills that open doors in their new community.

Roots and Wings is grounded in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, recognising that young people cannot build confidence until their foundational needs are met first. Before a young person can dream, they need to feel safe. Before they can achieve, they need to belong. Before they can lead, they need to believe they are worth leading.

Roots and Wings is launching in September 2026 in Windsor, Ontario. Partnerships are currently being built, volunteers are being recruited, and preparations are underway.
